Journey "down" the Santee River and camp out Riverside on an island, or sandy riverbank! We explore rice canals, black water creeks, brackish water marshes and fresh water islands all along the way. Once paddled and occupied by the Santee Indians, this pristine wilderness remains the same, uninhabited by development nestled in the Francis Marion National Forest.
See... Bald eagles, Swallow-tailed Kites, Hawks and many varieties of Wetland Birds. Shy and elusive Alligators, River otter, Deer and Wild Boar are also sometimes seen.
Primitive and Semi-primitive Camping available. Waterways include: Santee River , Echaw, Wambaw, Chicken and Hampton Creeks, The Edisto River, The Black River and more.
