Meet Chandler Winthrop – Paddleboard Instructor & Local Waterway Expert
Born and raised in Charleston, SC, Chandler Winthrop has always felt at home on the water. From a young age, she spent her time boating and fishing throughout the Lowcountry, developing a deep connection to the region’s tidal creeks and coastal landscapes. Her journey into paddleboarding in Charleston, SC began over 15 years ago, and it quickly became more than just a hobby — it turned into a lifelong passion.
Since discovering the sport, Chandler has earned multiple certifications in paddleboarding instruction and water safety. She’s raced paddleboards and prone boards along the East Coast, and now dedicates her season to training for Chattajack — a 32-mile endurance race held each October. Her commitment to the sport and the community shines through in everything she does.
As a guide for Nature Adventures, Chandler leads paddleboarding tours on Shem Creek and throughout Mount Pleasant, SC. Her extensive knowledge of the waterways, local wildlife, and safe paddling techniques makes her a favorite among both first-time paddlers and seasoned enthusiasts.
